William Henry Hardy

William Henry Hardy passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 99.

Born on November 4, 1926, in Virginia, William's early years were marked by a sense of adventure, running away with the circus as a child. His life was a tapestry of diverse experiences, having worked in various roles including at a bakery, a telephone company, Dan River Mills, and as a security officer before enjoying a well-deserved retirement. William served his country honorably in the Navy and was also a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.

William is survived by his brother, Thomas Wallace Hardy, his daughter, Jean Shelton, and his son, William Hardy, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Hardy and Ethel Hardy, and his sister, Elizabeth Hardy.

A graveside service will be held at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA, on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
