Sterling Everett White of 117 Kadesh Court, Blairs, VA died, October 1, 2025, at his residence. Born May 13, 1952, to Mr. James Henry White and Margaree Conley White. He was married to Elder Gaynell Mendenhall White. Sterling was educated at Danville Public Schools and employed at Dan River Mills for 33 years before moving to the City of Danville as a truck driver and Danville Public Schools as school bus driver.
Sterling was a trustee at the Hackberry Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Gaynell, two daughters, Candice Barley and Nekita Cobbs, two brothers, Stanley White, Steve (Debra) White, one sister, Selma (Howard) Graves, one granddaughter, Daisey Barley, three grandsons, Joshua Pritchett, Demarcus Broadnax, Jr., and Anthony Broadnax, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hackberry Baptist Church, 2026 Hackberry Road, Sutherlin, VA, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Hubert Pannell officiating. Interment will follow at the Hackberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
The White family extends sincere appreciation for every prayer, phone call, visit and acts of kindness given to us through the sickness and loss of our loved one.
