Raymond Henderson Carroll Jr. of Providence, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 16, 2026. He was born in Danville, Virginia on December 1, 1949 to the late Raymond Henderson Carroll and Alease Loftis Carroll. He was also predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Buckner.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lynn Moore Carroll, his sons Jonathan (Teresa), Jason (Diane) and daughter, Amy Fish (Jack). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also leaving behind his sister Sandra Crichton and his brother Ronnie (Robin) Carroll.

Ray lived his entire life in the Danville and Caswell County area. He was educated in the Caswell County school system and received his Bachelor’s degree from Gardner Webb College. He sold insurance for a short time, then joined the Danville Fire Department in 1975 and retired after 30 years of service.

Ray enjoyed hunting and being outside in God’s creation. He enjoyed gardening and driving his tractor on the farm. He loved watching sports, especially basketball and football. He loved being involved in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them for rides on the four-wheeler, fishing in the pond, going to the beach and watching their sports activities.

Ray and Lynn were foster parents for twenty years and cared for more than 30 babies. He loved giving back to his community by volunteering in many different ways.

Ray trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior early in life at Providence Baptist Church. He became more serious about the Lord when his children were young. He was involved with the work at Danville Bible Chapel and later on at Caswell Bible Fellowship. He participated in any work he could do for the furtherance of the gospel at his local church.

A funeral service will be held Monday June 22, 2026 11:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church, Providence Baptist Church 5762 Walter's Mill Rd. Providence, NC 27315, with Mr. Jack Fish officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Mountain Top Youth Camp-Pinnacle, NC or the Providence Volunteer Fire Department.
