Michael Wayne East

Michael Wayne East, a beloved resident of Danville, VA, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the age of 79.

Mike was born on July 12, 1946, to the late Wallace Thornton East and Edith Dodson East. He graduated from George Washington High School. Mike was a lifelong faithful and devoted member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.

Throughout his life, Mike was actively involved in several organizations, including the Order of the Red Men, God's Pit Crew, and especially God's Storehouse, where he spent much of his time over the last 10 years. His commitment to helping others and his community was evident in all that he did.

Mike is survived by his brother, Roger Thornton East, and sister-in-law, Ellen "Len" Davis East of Richmond, VA. He was an uncle to their children, David Thornton East of Reston and Ellen Hutter East of Norfolk.

A graveside service to honor Mike's life will be held at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jonathan Hilliard officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in his honor be made to Moffett Memorial Baptist Church,1026 North Main St Danville, VA 24540.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 215 West Main St., Danville, VA.
