Melvin Eugene Brown, 70, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on June 9, 2025. Born and raised in Danville, Melvin spent the majority of his life in the community he called home.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jean Comer Brown; his son Christopher Brown (Shannon) of Maggie Valley, NC; daughters Mary Alice Turner (David Stelzer) of Columbia, SC, and Kristy Keeney (George) of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Hardy (Mike) of Kannapolis, NC, and Sharon Strader (William) of Ringgold, VA. Melvin leaves behind several beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and great-nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory with love and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Garland Brown, and his mother, Mary Elizabeth Kirby, both of Danville, VA, and son David Kelly of Graceville Fl.

Melvin was known for his steady presence, warm heart, and deep love for his family. Whether it was sharing a story, lending a hand, or quietly watching over those he loved, he made a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know him.

A memorial to honor Melvin’s life will be held at St. Mark’s Pentecostal Holiness Church fellowship hall in Danville, VA on Thursday, June 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. All who knew him are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a truly good man. Light food and beverages will be served.
