Mary Lee Slaughter White of 212 Birchwood Road died on September 4, 2025, in Danville, VA.

Born December 16, 1942, she was the daughter of the late G. Maury Slaughter, Sr. and the late Mary Lee Cook Slaughter. Survivors include a son, William "Gene" and wife Amanda White, and three daughters, Martha and husband Jim Kelley, Carrie and husband Scott Frisbie and Elizabeth and husband Allen Eanes. Survivors also include 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by sister-in-law, Linda Slaughter, and two sisters, Elizabeth and husband, Dennis Tait, and Anne and husband, Michael Strader.

Mrs. White was born and raised in Danville. She was a graduate of George Washington High School, Stratford College, James Madison University, and Lynchburg College. She taught Special Education for several years in Danville Public Schools and also in Halifax County Public Schools. She was a former member of the Major William T. Sutherlin chapter Children of the Confederacy, a member of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, a member of the Danville Pittsylvania Community Services Board and a volunteer at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Shermont Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, 2:00 PM at Shermont Baptist Church with the Rev. Ryan Riley officiating. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the funeral service or at other times at the residence of Elizabeth Eanes on Friday, September 5. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shermont Baptist Church.
