Mary Beatrice Jones

Mary Beatrice Horton Jones, of Danville, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20th, 2025, at the age of 85.

Mary was born on Saturday June 29, 1940, a daughter of the late Obadiah Carl Horton and Ruby Madaliene Horton. A proud graduate of Danville Community College, Mary earned her associate's degree as an LPN. She managed the office at Mumford Stores. Mary was a woman of varied interests and passions. She found joy in reading, collecting antiques, and crocheting beautiful keepsakes for her loved ones. She cherished her old house, which stood as a testament to her life full of love and memories.

In addition to her parents, she is also reunited in eternal peace with her dear husband, John Lenwood Jones Sr., with whom she shared 40 wonderful years of marriage, her son, Michael Robertson Jones and wife Beverly, and her brothers, Alfred Roy Horton and Thomas Taylor.

Mary leaves behind her children, Marietta Sanford (Joe), Madalyn Martin, and John Jones, Jr. (Heather), her grandchildren, Will Sanford (Leigh), and Andrew Martin (Jenna), her great-grandchildren, Aaron Martin, Carson Martin, and Parker Sanford, her sister, Dreama Licea (Mariano), and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Central Boulevard Church of God in Danville, VA, on Monday, July 28th, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at the church from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on the same day.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of Danville or the Central Boulevard Church of God.
