Mary Dolianitis

Mary Tsoukatos Dolianitis, 87, of Danville, VA, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 10, 2019. She was born in Danville, VA on November 1, 1931 to the late Gus Lambros Tsoukatos and Stella Arkoudaris Tsoukatos. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lambros Tsoukatos and George Tsoukatos. She is survived by her husband, Stavros (Steve) Dolianitis, whom she married on November 1, 1959, sons Gus Dolianitis and Michael Dolianitis, grandchildren Jessica Dolianitis Laskowski, Alex Dolianitis and Matthew Dolianitis, and a sister, Stacy Tsoukatos Sokos. She was an honor graduate of George Washington High School, Class of 1950, where she worked on the school newspaper, The Chatterbox and was noted in the yearbooks as “Everyone’s Pal”. She enjoyed keeping in contact with her classmates and was instrumental in organizing several high school reunions through the years. She worked for the Thompson Insurance Agency after high school until her first son was born in 1961. She continued as a homemaker and kept the books for the family business, The Plaza Restaurant, where she had a smile for everyone. She was a member of Saint Peter’s Greek Orthodox Church in Danville, VA, since its inception in 1946. She was a tireless church worker and was a member of the Ladies Philiptochos Society and sung in the choir for many years. She poured her heart and soul into the church’s fundraising project, especially the bake sales of Greek Pastry and the Greek Foodfest. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed being with and doing things for her family and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Peters Greek Orthodox Church. A Trisagion service will be held at Townes Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 7pm with a visitation to follow. Funeral services will be held on October 16, 2019 at Saint Peter’s Greek Orthodox Church, 115 Jefferson Avenue, Danville, VA at 11am with Very Reverend Protopresbyter Nicholas G. Bacalis officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
