Lois Love

Lois Sydnor Angle Love, 92, passed away Saturday morning, April 7, 2018 in Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care.      She was born in Edmonds Hospital, Danville, Virginia on October 6, 1925 a daughter of the late Montrose Staton Angle and Lois Bass Angle of Milton, NC.      On February 5, 1949 she was married to James Stephens Love who died on September 12, 1989.      She was a graduate of Archibald Murphy High School in Milton, NC, attended Flora McDonald College, Red Springs, NC. , and Women’s College, University of North Carolina, Greensboro, NC.       Lois was an active member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school nursery teacher for many years. She also served on the Finance Committee, the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees and was active in United Methodist Women.      She was active in the community as a member of The Wednesday Club, the Danville Museum of Fine Arts & History, the Dorothea Henry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Forest Hills Garden Club, the Henry Corbin Chapter of The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, and served several terms as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross.      Lois worked for two years in the Dan River Mills office, nine years at Security Bank & Trust Company, ten years as bookkeeper for Mowbray Construction Company, and retired in 1997 after fifteen and a half years as bookkeeper for the Hatcher Center. She had also volunteer for the Danville Science Center as well as the Danville Museum of Fine Arts & History.      Lois leaves behind four children: James Stephens Love Jr., and his wife, Teresa, of Peach Tree City, GA, Harriet Love Cook and her husband Don of Atlanta, GA, Edgar Montrose Love and his wife Lisa of Danville, VA, and Jean Love Kimball and friend Rich Hagarty of Mt. Lebanon, PA.      She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, James Stephens Love III, Andrew Collins Love, James Edgar Love, Rachel Elizabeth Love, Jeffery Scott Kimball, Zachary Joseph Kimball, and Patrick James Kimball; two step grandchildren, Michael Lee Cook and Emily Cook Combs.      Lois also leaves behind her sister, Johnsie Angle Crowley of Leland, NC, and four nieces and three nephews. Her brother Robert T. Angle died in 1987.      Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11 am at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with the Reverend Bart Fletcher officiating.  Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.      The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home Monday from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial donations in memory of Lois Love may be made to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 107 West Main Street, Danville, VA 24541.
