Linda Gayle Oakes

Linda Gayle Williams Oakes, 80, passed away on July 5, 2026.

Gayle was born on June 3, 1946, to the late Doyd Williams and Blanche Gibson Williams.

Gayle was an independent woman. She worked for Dan River Mills until she left to take care of her daughter Joan. She was very dedicated to Joan. She loved playing Bingo and lottery tickets. She also enjoyed spending time with her fur babies.

Gayle was preceded in death by her husband Randal Lee Oakes and daughter Joan Oakes.

She is survived by her daughter Patsy Rigsby (Lee), sister Brenda Odum, niece Cindy White, nephew Brendan Odum, who took great care of her and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday July 9, 2026, 11:00 AM at Townes Memorial Chapel with Lee Rigsby officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to God’s Pit Crew or Danville Humane Society.
