Kathryn Sutton Plumb, 76, passed away May 24, 2026. Kathryn was born November 8, 1949 to the late O. Robert Plumb and Frances Sutton Plumb.
Kathryn was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college she enlisted in the United States Air Force and was an ER nurse during the Vietnam War. She was honorably discharged in 1991. Kathryn came back to Danville and worked for the hospital as a nursing instructor and ER nurse. She then went on to work for the Danville Health Department where she was instrumental in helping school system programs. She helped with the Dr. Chip Program before retiring in 2016 with 30 years and 10 months of service.
Kathryn was a charter member of Red House Presbyterian Church and a member of State Line Baptist Church where she was involved in numerous committees and groups. She taught Sunday School for many years. Her greatest joy was teaching children the Word of God. She was an adamant lover of Chrismon ornaments, fishing at the beach, cross stitching and riding her tractor. In her earlier years, she was an avid golfer.
She is survived by her children by love Donald and Janice Ingram, grandchildren by love Desire and Jeremy Moser, Donald and Katie Ingram, Devin Ingram and 5 great grandchildren by love. She also is survived by dearest friend Janice Johnson of Texas.
The family would like to add a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Nurse Practitioner Sherri Eagle.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday May 31, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Townes Funeral Home’s Chapel with Pastor Bob Thurman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Red House Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
