Juanita Mills

Juanita Brooks Mills, age 89, of Westover Lane, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at her residence following a brief illness.  She was born on September 30, 1927, to the late George William Brooks, Sr. and Valeria Willis Brooks.  She married the late Jesse L. Mills, Jr. on October 19, 1946.    Mrs. Mills worked at Dan River Mills before an early retirement due to disability.    She was an active charter member of Timberlake Baptist Church where she served on the flower committee until she became disabled. She loved flowers and was known for her beautiful roses.    She is survived by her son, Jesse “Mike” Mills and wife, Diane; sister-in-law, Vernie Dawson and husband, Doug; numerous nieces and nephews, who were very dear to her.     The family would like to especially thank her caregivers, Pat Farmer, Shirley Logan, and Mountain Valley Hospice.     In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Echols and her brother, George W. Brooks, Jr.    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, December, 19, 2016 at Timberlake Baptist Church with the Reverend Walter Yancey officiating.  Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.    The family will receive friends at Timberlake Baptist Church, on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM.
