Joyce Brandon Rainey

Joyce Brandon Rainey, 80, of Cherry Grove NC, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2026. Joyce was born in Caswell County on December 8, 1945. She was the daughter of the late John and Gracie Pruitt. After moving to Blanch Joyce met and married Henry Brandon. They lived in the back of Doug Fowkles Store and helped Doug and Ann in the store until opening Brandon’s Store in Blanch, which they operated for 19 years. They had two sons together, Johnny and Robert Brandon. After Henry’s passing in 1988 Joyce held many jobs to help support her family. She drove a school bus for Caswell County, worked at the post office and Department of Social Services, sat with elderly families, babysitted, and retired from the Department of Transportation in 2020.

Joyce married Adrain Rainey of Cherry Grove NC on October 22, 1993. AD and Joyce loved traveling and working around the house keeping flowers and a garden. AD often said he never got to sit down because she kept him on the go all the time. Joyce was always full of energy.

Joyce was known for her kindness towards everyone and her giving heart. Joyce never met a stranger and always kept a smile on her face even in the most difficult times. She loved her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren with all her heart and made sure none of them ever needed for anything.

She is survived by her husband Adrian “AD” Rainey, sons Johnny Brandon (Debra), Robert Brandon (Kelly), grandchildren Henry Ryan, Jonathan, Taylor (Derek), Robbie (Kaitlin), great grandchildren Sandy, Coraline, Brayden, Bayliegh, Rylee, Paisley, and one sister Frances Carver.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Ann Mitchell, Brenda Bowes and one brother William “Buck” Pruitt.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 16, 2026 at Townes Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 PM and at other times at the residence of Johnny Brandon, 4348 Blanch Road Blanch NC 27212. A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 17, 2026, 11:00 AM at Blanch Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Blanch Baptist Church Cemetery.
