James Hodges Pritchett, age 76, of Danville, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 7, 2025.
He was born November 12, 1948, in Charlottesville, Virginia to Sarah Whitney Pritchett and Dr. Drake Pritchett. Jim was a graduate of Blue Ridge School and received his bachelor’s degree from Averett University.
He married Jean Turner Pritchett on September 21, 1974, in Danville, Virginia, where they chose to spend their lives and start a family together.
Jim is also survived by his daughter whom he adored Alston Pritchett Hayes and husband Randall Hayes, brothers Drake Pritchett, Jr (Susan), Whitney Pritchett, Sr (Anne), John Pritchett (Kathy), sister Ann VanHorn (Woodie), brother-in-law Richard "Ricky" Turner, sister-in-law Jamey Turner and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Drake Pritchett, his in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Turner III and brother-law Robert "Bob" Turner IV.
Jim was a loving and devoted husband and father who brought much joy to his family and friends. He could always light up a room with his humor and witty disposition. One of Jim's life long pleasures was spending time at the beach with his family. He loved taking walks on the beach and people watching from his North Myrtle Beach home. Jim worked in management with the automotive industry in association with Mercedes Benz and Ford for over 30 years. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher and a Deacon. He was a past member of The German Club of Danville and the Young Men's Club.
A memorial service will be held Thursday September 25, 2025, 1:00pm at Townes Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 until 12:45pm.
The family suggests that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, Danville, Virginia or to the charity of your choice.
