Howard Stewart Thompson, Jr.

Howard S. "Rusty" Thompson Jr. passed away on October 22, 2026 at the age of 56.

He was born in Keeling, Virginia on April 14, 1970 where he spent his entire life. Rusty graduated from Longwood University where he met his wife, Ann, of 32 years. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber with 30 years of service. Rusty was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Keeling where he was a Deacon, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Trustee, and former choir member. He enjoyed farming and tending the vineyards that he planted on his family farm.

Rusty was predeceased by his parents, H. Stewart and Charlotte Thompson. He was a devoted husband to Ann, a loving father to Jessica (Zack) Wilkerson and Stewart (Haley) Thompson, and a proud "Pop Pop" to Emma and Erin.

Services will be held at on Tuesday, October 27, at 4:00 pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Keeling with Pastor Michael Myers officiating. A visitation will be held beginning at 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church or Blairs Volunteer Fire Department.
