Horace Porter Taylor, Jr.

Horace Porter Taylor Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at the age of 89.

Horace was born on Wednesday, September 16th, 1936, a son of the late Horace Porter Taylor and Dorothy Spotswood Taylor. He served in the National Guard, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country. Following his military service, he worked as an electrician at Dan River Mills. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Horace had a passion for taking care of his animals and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He enjoyed tinkering with old equipment.

In addition to his parents, Horace was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Grace Joan Taylor. He is survived by his loving sister, Anne Adcock (Robert), his dear friends, Tom Parcell (Carolyn), and Coy Davis (Caroline), along with several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA of Pittsylvania County, P.O. Box 936, Chatham, VA 24531.

The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the critical care doctors and nurses at SOVAH Health Martinsville.
