Harry Phillip Smith

Harry Phillip Smith, age 78, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Phillip was born on February 22, 1948, a son of the late Charles J. and Virginia “Susie” Smith. He worked as an auditor at the Virginia Tax Department. He was a member of Fairview Church. Phillip had a passion for service. He served on Danville City Council, Danville Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Danville Utility Commission, the Finance Committee of Fairview Church, and the Board of Becky’s Kiddie Kollege. Phillip married the love of his life, Elizabeth H. Smith, on July 26, 1986.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beth, his children Jason (Amanda) and Rebecca (Rebekah), and two granddaughters, Sylvie and Sadie.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 2:00 at Townes Funeral Home with Reverend Beavers officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Highland Burial Park.
