Forest Lewis, Jr.

Forest Lewis Jr. passed away on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on Wednesday, February 6th, 1946, in Danville, VA, Forest spent his life dedicated to his family, his community, and his passions. He lived with his grandmother and grandfather until 12 years old and then he and his other siblings went to NYC to live with their mother and father.

Forest was a graduate of Automotive High School in Brooklyn, NY, and later earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Union Institute. His career began in Rochester, NY as a radio announcer, a role he cherished until his 40s, when he decided to pursue his passion for psychology. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Forest served his country with honor during the Vietnam War for three years. He was a black belt in karate, an avid deer hunter, and a gun enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria Lewis; his son, Forest David Lewis; his daughter, Rebecca Michelle Carrie Lewis (Wade); his cherished grandchildren, Samantha Lewis, Travis Lewis, Dustin Lewis, Kaimana Murry, and Dylan Murry; his sister, Patricia Norma Lewis; his nieces and nephews, Karen Hardy, John Hardy, Tiffany Pugh, Natasha Conyers; his brother-in-law, Charles Jecminek; and his half-sister-in-law, Pamela Leben

Forest was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Lewis, Sr. and Mary Norma Lewis, as well as his siblings, Marva Ann Hardy, Travis Jerome Lewis, and Michael Lewis.

A funeral service will be held at Townes Funeral Home Chapel in Danville, VA, on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
