Donna Fowlkes

Donna Jean Kirk Fowlkes, 85, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 in Centra Health Lynchburg, VA.    She was born in Danville, VA on November 6, 1932, to the late William Donald Kirk and Olive Marion “Mollie” Hendershot” Kirk. On December 26, 1951, she married Guy Pearson Fowlkes, who predeceased her on April 16, 2017.    Donna Jean was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a resident of Danville and Providence and was a retired self-employed income tax specialist. She was involved in a number of civic organizations in the community during her life.    She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Fowlkes Adams and her husband, Terry of Lynchburg, VA; a son, Charles Kirk Fowlkes and his wife, Martha Dale Williams of Wilmington. NC; three grandchildren, Christopher Adams and his wife, Kerry Ann, Catherine Adams, and Charles Adams.    Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 2 PM, at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Dr. John McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park.    The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16 at Townes Funeral Home from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM and at other times at the residence.    The family would like to thank the caregivers for the love, care and support shown to their mother during her illness.    Townes Funeral Home is serving the family.
