Della Shumate Wilson

Della Shumate Wilson died peacefully Sunday, August 11, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born August 25, 1925, in Ringgold, VA to Harry James Shumate and Nannie Scearce Shumate. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, "Buddy" Wilson; her sister, Frances Richardson; and her brother, Carl Shumate. She is survived by her daughter, Debby Wilson Johnson, and son-in-law Sammy; her son, Steve Wilson; grandson, Derek Dumais and his wife, Shelley; her much loved nieces and nephews: Nancye Gery (Doug); Joanne Gentry; Jimmy Richardson; J.C. Richardson III; special friend Jake Jacobs and his wife, Jane Elan; and best friend Ann Wattlington Kerley. Della spent her life taking care of others and was a member of Brush Arbor Baptist Church. She loved to sew and design quilts, read romance books, and watch her favorite sport-baseball. A graveside service will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Billy Scearce officiating.
