Dawn Elizabeth Evans Frazier, age 69, of 108 Maplewood Court, Dry Fork, VA died on Sunday, November 20, 2016 after being in declining health for the past six months. Dawn was born in Marion, VA on January 31, 1947, a daughter of the late Willie Robert Evans and Sibyl Estelle Earnest Evans. She was retired from Dan River, Inc. after 38 years of service. Dawn graduated from George Washington High School in 1965 and was a Honor Graduate at Danville Community College in 2007 and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary #647. Dawn was a former board member of the Dan River Federal Credit Union, Tunstall High Marching Band, Danville Historical Society, Boy Scouts of America Troop #356, and attended Southall Baptist Church. She was a recipient of Danville Historical Society-Preservation Awareness Award in 1987. Dawn loved sewing, cooking, history, and spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by siblings; Daniel W. Evans, Dolly B. Evans-infant, and Donald K. Evans-infant. Also predeceased by her grandparents David Emory Earnest and Bessie Mae Hopkins Earnest. On July 29, 1967 she married George C. Frazier who survives of the home, son, Robbie Frazier and his wife Tabatha, daughter, Jamie C. Frazier, grandchildren; Sarah Frazier, Christian Parker, Evan Frazier and Katie Bryant. She is also survived by her sisters; Dale E. Walker and her husband Steve, Diannia E. Hudgins and her husband Donnie, of Danville, brother, Darrell J. Evans and his wife Patricia, of Nevada, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Lynch officiating. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 7 to 8:30 P.M. and at other times will be at the residence, 108 Maplewood Court, Dry Fork, VA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Danville Cancer Association, 223 Riverview Drive, Suite J, Danville, VA 24540.
