David Browder Cheyney passed away on May 10, 2025. He was born on July 3, 1962, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Helen Browder and W. James Cheyney II. He attended Waynesboro and Martinsville (Virginia) schools and Oak Ridge Military Academy. After graduation, David served in the U.S. Coast Guard, working in the maritime law enforcement and response division. Following his service, he settled in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, where he worked with the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group. David also volunteered as a youth leader at his local United Methodist Church. David had a vivacious personality and an infectious sense of humor. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: cooking, spending time with family, watching movies, studying history, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. In his final chapter, David faced a long and difficult illness with courage and grace. As his health declined, he moved to Danville to be closer to family. Even in the midst of his own struggles, he stepped into the role of caregiver for his mother and father, offering them the same care and devotion he had always shown others. He is preceded in death by his father, W. James Cheyney II, and his brother, Bill Cheyney. He is survived by his mother, Helen, and his brothers, Bryan and Stephen (Bridgett) Cheyney. He is also survived by the greatest joys of his life, his beloved nephews and niece, Alex (Catherine), Caleb, and, Maggie Cheyney.
