Charles H. Fries , 81, of 104 Wendin Lane Danville, Va passed away May 30th after a long period of declining health. He was born May 28, 1937 at Winchester, Va. to parents the late Ray McDonald Fries Sr. and Dora Braithwaite Fries. On August 27, 1960 he married the love of his life Marybelle Lichliter Fries. He was employed in sales with Lance Inc. in Charlottesville, Danville, and Henderson, NC for 35 years and retired in 1997. He was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville and a member of Poquoson Tribe 124 Improved Order of Redmen. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter Debra Lynne Fries and a brother Ray McDonald Fries Jr. He is survived by a daughter Cindy Fries Faulkner (Jeff) of Burgaw, NC and Henderson, NC., brothers Dwain Fries (Janet) of High View, WV and John Fries (Mattie) of Boyce, Va and sister-in-law Norma Fries of Winchester, Va. He is also survived by grandchildren Beth Faulkner Dunlap (Michael) of Raleigh, NC, Buddy Faulkner of Wilmington, NC and Bryson Faulkner (Hailey) of Kernersville, NC and 3 great-grandchildren Michael Jr, Logan and Peyton Dunlap and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was an avid camper and had traveled the United States extensively with his wife and was proud to have been to all 48 continental states. He also took great delight in spending time with his grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Saturday June 2nd at 3pm at Ascension Lutheran Church of Danville with Rev. Meredith Williams officiating. Visitation will be immediately prior to the service at the church from 2pm-3pm. At other times the family will receive friends at the home. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, Va. at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Charlie’s name to your favorite charity.
