PERKINSON, Carolyn Turner, 99, of Commonwealth Senior Living at Stratford House 1111 Main Street Danville, VA, passed away quietly on October 22, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born on September 25, 1919 in Danville. She is predeceased by her parents Albert James Perkinson and Carolyn Turner Perkinson, and her brother James Waddill Perkinson. Carolyn was born, raised, and lived her entire life in Danville. She graduated from Stratford College with a degree in Secretarial Science. She was employed for many years by the Dermatology Firm Fitzgerald and Evans until her retirement. She was a life time member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Carolyn loved baking, cooking, and sewing; but mostly she loved sharing and providing care to her many friends and loved ones. Carolyn is survived by three nieces Melissa P. Callaway and her husband, Douglas, of Richmond, Va., Sarah P. Oliver and her husband, Paul, of Wilmington, N.C., and Ann P. Gorham and her husband, Patrick, of Wyoming, Del. She is also survived by three grandnieces Laura and Sarah Ann Callaway, and Lindsay Gorham and one grandnephew Bryan Gorham. The family sends special thanks to caregivers Eboni Lampkins and Lorraine Greene for their care and support. Services will be held at Townes Memorial Chapel in Danville on Saturday, October 27 at 2:00 PM., with Reverend Lisa Nordan officiating. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30PM before the service. The family suggests that memorials may be made to The Danville Life Saving Crew.
