Brian Edward Mathieson

Brian E. Mathieson died Sunday, December 14, 2025, after a short illness. Born in Hampton, VA in 1962, he lived his formative years in Chatham, VA and Rocky Mount, NC. He graduated from Virginia Episcopal School, NASH Community College (Assoc.), UNC (B.A.), and Danville Community College (Assoc.). His work history included Old Dominion University (Distant Learning Producer), PACE Academy Chapel Hill (Computer Science Teacher), TV History Channel Contributor (Hanger I), and a trained chef.

His family always called him a renaissance man with many talents. He was a sculptor, painter, musician, writer, and poet. Most of all, he was a kind and loving spirit who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. James Mathieson; brother, William Cooper (Clara); niece, Olivia; and nephew, Harold. He was predeceased by brothers Charles David and James West.

The time and date of the burial will be determined at a later date.
