Joe Northen

Joseph C. Northen began working part-time for Townes Funeral Home as an Attendant in 2013. He and his wife, Kathy, retired that year after 40 years as church musicians serving together as Minister of Music and Organist/Music Associate, respectively. Their last 25 years of ministry were spent at First Baptist Church, Danville, VA. Joe’s dad was a career Army officer so he grew up in Georgia, Kentucky, Germany, Virginia, Japan and New York before settling in Virginia. Kathy’s family spent her early years in Iowa before settling in Illinois. Joe and Kathy have one adult son and one granddaughter who live in Harrisonburg, VA. Joe is a member of the Virginia Baptist Male Chorale and the Danville Area Choral Arts Society.
